Muslim Brotherhood wins Egypt’s presidential race
Breaking News: Mohammed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood has won Egypt’s presidential election by capturing 51.73% of the votes cast, some 13.23 million votes in total
His rival and the last prime minister under deposed leader Hosni Mubarak Ahmed Shafiq polled 48% totaling 12.35 million votes, the electoral commission announced few minutes ago.
Egypt’s election commission has now declared Mohammed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood as the next president of Egypt’s first free elections.
The final count:
Mursi: 13,230,131 votes (51.7%)
Shafiq: 12,347,380 (48%)
